Our Weavers Court home was awash with the colours of the Union flag as our resident’s marked the Coronation of King Charles III. Some of our residents were lucky enough to have memories of another Coronation, of Queen Elizabeth II, so our event sparked lots of memories and conversations about the two events.
For the Coronation itself, our residents settled into our cinema room to watch the event on our big screen. We have plenty of red, white and blue on display, with flags waved. Some of our residents even got into the spirit by donning union jack hats in honour of King Charles’ important event.
As with many gatherings up and down the country – and around the world – our residents watched the ceremony unfold, looking out for the historic moments and taking a look at the attendees in Westminster Abbey.
Our residents thoroughly enjoyed watching it together and it was the subject of plenty of conversations in Weavers Court on Saturday afternoon.
It’s hard to imagine that, by Sunday evening, all thoughts of the Coronation had been put to one side as our residents recounted the events of their own huge event at Weavers Court on Sunday.
Weavers Court Street Party
Sunday 7 May was a date to remember as Weavers Court held our first street party – in honour of King Charles’ III Coronation. It was a fantastic event and gave us all something to look forward to after the excitement of Saturday’s ceremony.
The team at Weavers Court opened our home up to families, friends and our local community to welcome them to join us for a day of fun, laughter and even dancing.
Stalls lined our outdoor area, giving the chance for our residents to get some retail therapy in what turned out to be a warm and sunny day. We all enjoyed some amazing food and drink, working our excesses off with by tripping the light fantastic to our live music. Our residents certainly got into the party mood.
For our younger visitors, our bouncy castle and face painting proved to be an enormous hit, with lots of bouncing, giggling and joy.
Our residents, friends, families and visitors joined in fund raising for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Watch this space for a final total.
From everyone at Weavers Court, we’d just like to wish everyone that came together to make the weekend such a special event that has created wonderful memories a very big THANK YOU!

Weavers Win
Weavers Court Care Home has been named as one of the Top 20 Care Homes in Yorkshire & The Humber 2023 by carehome.co.uk. Everyone at Weavers Court, from the support team to our residents have got a little spring in their steps after hearing the recent news. What makes this accolade all the more special is that Weavers Court is newly opened and in its first year of operation.
Weavers Court has taken a hat-trick of places; being 1st in Leeds out of 117 homes, 2nd in West Yorkshire out of 349 homes and 3rd in Yorkshire and Humber Region out of 1,414 homes.
Weavers Court is in the beautiful Green Lane Mills development of Rawdon, on the outskirts of both Leeds and Bradford, which places it in within easy reach of two of Yorkshire’s biggest cities. As a care home, Weavers Court offers residential, dementia and short-stay respite care in the most luxurious of settings. A very happy home, Weavers Court has 66 en suite bedrooms with fabulous community areas on each of the three floors.
Our Residents’ Needs
With a 10 out of 10 score on Carehome.co.uk, Weavers Court is dedicated to ensuring that our residents’ needs come first. To do this, we make sure that our staff and support team are well looked after and treasured too. We think that this shines through, with reviews on the well known carehome.co.uk site review site, so heart-warming and positive.
Jan S, the daughter of one of our residents, said, ‘This just isn’t a care home it’s a community of love and respect for those that need extra care.’
David G, son of one of our residents, also commented that, ‘The layout of the home is excellent and it is beautifully furnished throughout. There is plenty of space, with a variety of differently styled rooms of which residents and guests can avail themselves. Five-star rating!’
This has always been really important to the management team at Adore Care Group, the company behind Weavers Court. The home was designed to be easy to navigate and offer luxury living but we’ve taken extra care to make sure that our residents always feel like that there are different areas to spend time in.
Mariyam Jogi, General Manager at Weavers Court said “For the team at Weavers Court, we’re very proud, grateful and happy to have earned our place within the top 20 care homes in Yorkshire and Humber so soon after we’ve opened our doors to residents. However, this is just the start of our journey and we will continue to pursue excellence and make sure that our residents and their loved ones remain happy and content with Weavers Court. We’re looking forward to the year ahead and are excited to welcome new residents to our home and community”
Residents at Weavers Court had the most fabulous adventure recently, as they were invited to explore Leeds United’s ground at Elland Road.
Introducing Sophie Dales
Sophie Dales, from the Leeds United Foundation, works with our residents at Weavers Court to help keep them moving. Our Health and Wellbeing Activator, Sophie spends time with our residents and helps them to enjoy chair-based exercises. We know that moving is great for our wellbeing but we also know that it helps our residents with their mental health too.
Sophie has been working hard with our residents, treating them with a trip to see what life is like behind the scenes at Leeds United. A group of residents were able to visit the Elland Road site and see what really goes on at a modern football club.
Taking a Tour
Seeing an empty and quiet stadium let our residents appreciate the sheer size of the site, which would be packed full of fans during a match day. Able to see the pitch both at pitch level and from the stands, residents could experience what it was like for both players and spectators. Our resident, Pat, commented that it was ‘interesting and a very cold day’. She commented that she really enjoyed it and even said that her son was jealous!
As well as seeing the pitch and the public areas, the group was also given some gentle exercises by Sophie to make sure that they stayed warm in the winter weather. Barbara, one of our residents, enjoyed the trip and thought Elland Road ‘very nice’, while Mo gave it the ‘thumbs up’.
Getting to see behind the scenes helped our group to appreciate all the hard work that goes into 90 minutes of football. A trip around the ground gave them access all areas, with the group even meeting some of the Leeds United players. Our resident, Dennis, was thrilled and said that it was’ brilliant’ and that he ‘couldn’t fault it’. That’s straight to the back of the net for Leeds United!
David, another of our residents on the day trip, said that he wants to go again and it was ‘very interesting to see what goes on’.
Our residents are back at Weaver Court with a fresh energy for their exercise and an even better understanding of what goes on at Leeds United.
Thank you for such a special day, Sophie.
While we wait for the Spring to properly kickstart and the cold weather leave us for another year, staff and residents at Weavers Court are busy fundraising for Comic Relief.
Always thinking of others, the staff and residents are getting stuck into a series of fundraising events, while raising awareness of what it’s like to wear a wig.
The Fundraising Events
Marking International Wig Day on March 10th, we decided to show our support for people who lose their hair through disease or cancer treatment and opt to wear a wig. While we donned bright and colourful wigs, it was thought provoking to imagine wearing a wig each and every day.
Hoping for the luck of the Irish, we’re marking St Patrick’s Day on 17th March by wearing the emerald green of Ireland. We’re also thrilled to support Red Nose Day for Comic Relief 2023 by wearing bright red. Weavers Court is going to be so colourful!
The fun continues on Saturday 18th March with an extra-special game of ‘Guess the Baby’. Staff members will supply photos of themselves as bonny bairns and bubbly babbies for our residents to match up. There’s going to be a lot of laughs when we come together as a community to enjoy the big reveal. Part of our Comic Relief activity, it will be the cause of many conversations.
All of our Comic Relief activities will be raising money for Red Nose Day 2023. We know that there are so many ways to donate to Comic Relief and we’re thrilled to be able to share Weavers Court’s own link on Just Giving. Just Giving is a really simple way to donate to good causes. Simply click on the link below and donate in seconds.
Come and join us as we raise funds, make smiles and create memories.
Weavers Court Win
Weavers Court Care Home, part of the Adore Care Group, is thrilled to have been rated as 10/10 on carehome.co.uk. Members of both the care and support teams join with the management team in sharing their happiness that Weavers Court has been recognised so quickly after opening in November 2022.
Carehome.co.uk is a well-known online platform where both residents and relatives can rate and review care home services.
“During the design, development and building stages, and as we welcomed our first residents, our team put everything into ensuring our residents are cared for and cherished. While our rating is a reflection of the love, care and attention we show our residents, it is validation that our efforts are making a difference where it matters most – with the residents and their loved ones.” Said Mariyam Jogi, Weavers Court, General Manager.
Z H (Grandson of Resident) 28 February 2023
“Been to visit numerous times now and have been so impressed every time I’ve been. Every single member of staff I’ve come across has been so welcoming, warm and friendly. I can’t praise the staff, food, facilities and cleanliness highly enough.”
Located in the beautiful Green Lane Mills development twixt Yeadon and Rawdon, on the outskirts of both Leeds, Weavers Court offers residential, dementia and short term care in a luxury setting. There are 66 en suite bedrooms allowing our residents to have their own sanctuary and space to relax and the community areas have been designed to with luxurious touches that make for a warm and inviting atmosphere..
Lauren S (Granddaughter of Resident) 16 January 2023
“My grandad came home a different man after his stay with you. Thank you for the care you gave him. The home is beautiful and feels like a home-from-home. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. Thank you.”
At Weavers Court, we welcome residents’ loved one with open arms and this allows them to be in and around our home. They can see our residents enjoying our facilities – set over three floors- and check out our daily activities schedule as they come and go on their visits.
The Carehome.co.uk reviews on Weavers Court show that our residents’ families can see the love, care and attention that we show their loved ones. They can tell that our concern for them and attention to detail is genuine. Praise for our high standards of cleanliness means a lot to our housekeeping staff and we were especially touched to see that both grand- and great grandchildren had enjoyed a film in our in-home cinema, keeping one of our residents company.
What especially stands out for the team at Weavers Court is the difference that spending time with us has made to the lives of our residents, even if they’re only with us on a short-term stay basis. We pour time and attention into each and every one of our residents and we’re reassured to hear that it has lifted their spirits.
Janet S (Sister of Resident) 27 February 2023
“I cannot find fault in anything at Weavers Court. Please just keep doing what you do. All our family are so grateful for all you have done for our sister. Thank you all so very much.”
Our facilities are dedicated to helping our residents to love life at Adore Care, from our on-site salon to our Sky Bar where our much-loved pre-dinner drinks take place.
What stands out most for us at Weavers Court is that both our residents and their loved ones can see plenty of smiling and approachable staff and that they know our smiles are real!
With the worst of the winter months behind us, residents at Leeds care home, Weavers Court, have fallen in love with the recent activities on offer. There’s been a very special birthday and staff pulled out all the stops to make the most of Valentine’s Day 2023.
Birthdays are Special at Weavers Court
When our residents come to live with us at Weavers Court, they discover that our staff like to make a fuss of them on their birthday. Our teams are always on hand for a chat and a cuppa but we make sure that birthdays are marked in a very special way. Our wonderful resident, Pat, was overjoyed to spend her recent birthday with us and it’s really added to her enjoyment of living at Weavers Court. Our community came together to celebrate Pat’s birthday, with our Chef cooking up something very special in the kitchen. Pat’s family was then able to join her for a home-made cake, presents and cards. Pat was delighted with her birthday experience, commenting,
“I had a lovely meal, lots of cards, presents and a cake baked for me by the Chef, all my family came to visit me, it made me quite emotional & happy. I really like living at Weavers Court, everyone is so lovely and kind.”
Love is in the air…
While birthdays are special, our residents don’t have to wait for their big day to get together and have fun. Valentine’s Day is always worth making a special effort for because – as we all know – love actually is everything!
Again, our fabulous Chef, Lewis, jumped into action, creating a special Valentine’s menu that was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Many of our residents joined in with our movie night in the cinema. Residents found a little bit of room to tuck into some freshly made popcorn while they watched classic films. All agreed that it was the perfect way to spend Valentine’s Day. Thoughts are now turning to our next special day as we watch the arrival of Spring in our gardens.
Staying fit and active plays an enormous part in feeling good about ourselves and helping us to look after our own wellbeing. Moving in some shape or form is key to our daily activities at Weavers Court. Making time to move is important for many different reasons and we’re excited to share the news that Sophie Dales, from the Leeds United Foundation, will be spending time in Weavers Court to work with our residents.
Sophie will join us at Weavers Court on a regular basis, as our Health and Wellbeing Activator, running inclusive and fun exercise sessions with our residents. Sophie is currently working with other care homes across the Leeds area and is seeing the benefits felt by residents. Sophie will organise light chair-based activities and fun games at Weavers Court.
Sophie says, “I am really looking forward to spending time with the residents and staff at Weavers Court – and, of course, having lots of fun with everyone when I come and meet you all.”
Why Move?
Moving is of benefit to everyone, regardless of your mobility. We use a chair-based approach to ensure that our residents are comfortable and getting the maximum output from their time spent ‘working out’.
Chair exercises are a very smart way to keep fit without putting undue pressure on the body. It also helps our residents to focus on the movements they are making, improving them with practice and feeling the benefit. Movement will increase blood flow around the body, which smooths joint movement and can help to ease aches and pains.
Chair-based exercises can help to build muscle, which helps to create a strong core. It may help our residents to feel more confident about moving about our home and feel steadier in their feet. Even though the mind may have forgotten certain exercises, the muscles retain them. This allows residents to enjoy repetitive exercises that helps to maintain hand-eye coordination and it allows them to take part in a shared activity.
Another important aspect of exercise is the impact it can have on hormonal balance. Exercise releases endorphins which can reduce inflammation and reduce physical pain. In addition to the physical benefits, our exercise programme also has other more intangible benefits. These can include reducing stress and promoting better and healthier sleep patterns. In turn, this can help to lift moods and help in keeping feelings of anxiety and depression at bay.
The NHS is under extreme pressure this winter, with a solution to its problems seemingly out of reach. Yet, when broken down, some issues can be tackled – and this is where care homes can take some of the burden.
Improving patient flow
The media is full of stories of ambulance waits outside hospitals, with no space in A&E for their patients. Inside A&E, many patients treated can go home, but there are others that need to be admitted. With ward beds already full, the system backs up and patients are placed in corridors for hours at a time.
Freeing up beds on wards enables A&E patients to flow through the system, freeing emergency wards. An oversimplified version of what’s happening maybe, but it’s also accurate and undeniable.
Layers of added complications cloud both the issue and solutions; but, at Adore Care, our short-term stays care packages are the antidote to bed-blocking for many patients currently in hospital.
Care Crisis
In early summer 2022, the British Medical Association (BMA) highlighted the ‘ticking time bomb’ that we’re facing in social care. It seems that we’re now feeling it. Social care has endured years of chronic underfunding and is dealing with severe staffing shortages. Set this against the backdrop of a growing elderly population and it means that we’re looking at a gap between the care and support on offer and the number of people that are counting on it.*
Moving the Medically Fit
There’s comes a point at which keeping people in hospital is the wrong course of treatment for them. They are medically fit, having worked through the issue they were admitted with; however, their levels of inactivity during their stay causes loss of muscle function and deconditioning. The longer they stay in hospital, the more prone to infection they become, with Covid, flu and infections, such as C Difficile, posing a continuous threat to them. While they no longer need medical treatment, they do still need lots of care, attention and support. Sorting out funding for the next step can take around six weeks and with the shortage of carers that the BMA noted now hugely apparent, there’s no way an in-home care package can be put in place for people quickly.**
Short-Term Stays
At Weavers Court, our management team has years of experience in the care home sector and bring with them a wealth of knowledge of, not only how to look after and care for residents but also what the families are having to deal with. The patient’s voice is key in taking decisions that concern them, but they’re in a weakened state; not unwell enough for hospital and not well enough to return to life as normal at home. It’s falling to the families to work out how they can plug the gap, but that are also maybe not yet at the stage of considering a care home full-time.
Our short-term stays offer a middle ground, where a patient becomes a resident and moves away from the hospital to receive targeted care and attention that’s tailored to their exact needs. We’ll work with people to help them regain their strength and spirit, with nutritious meals and activities that they can get engaged in.
Safety In Numbers
While social care shortages may be endemic across the system, our care home is fully staffed. We also understand that this is a short-term arrangement and one that is often being considered at high speed and under stressful conditions. In a situation that is so much about numbers – waiting figures, numbers of beds, weeks and months in hospital – we’ve worked hard on our offer to help those considering short-term stay, but not only offering a reduced weekly fee of £1,100, down from £1,295 but a package that is all-inclusive with no billable extras.
We’re here to help please call us on 0113 465 3000 to discuss your requirements and get things moving.
