Your grandchildren and their grandchildren deserve a better world. Our care home helps to not take more resources from this one than necessary.
Our completed care home is carbon neutral. We do not directly draw on any fossil fuels.
Harvesting the sun’s energy is a key part of our carbon zero capability.
Underfloor heating comes from drawing heat from deep beneath the earth’s surface using ground source heat pumps.
Your building uses an on-site battery that stores solar electricity generated and exchanges it with the national grid.
A Greener Building
Weavers Court and DurhamGate are market leading “green energy” properties, carrying an EPC A rating and with carbon-zero credentials. Each home has a comfort cooling system and underfloor heating. Our energy needs are toward self-sufficient and carbon neutral; as we have ground source heating, solar panels, and exchange our surplus energy with the National Grid. We run entirely on electricity and have no gas, so we will be better protected, by comparison to other care homes, against any escalating costs. Nor will we be affected by short-term power cuts.
ESG: Environment and Social Governance has become a real driving force in the development of modern building solutions. Although our home has been designed and built to provide first-class accommodation for people who were most likely born around the mid 20th century, you will live in a building that is already ahead of its time. The development at Weavers Court achieves targets years ahead of government plans.
Greener buildings are an unexpected boon for you and our care teams. Ample natural light, high insulation qualities for warmth, coupled with good ventilation and easy access to safe landscaped spaces outdoors. An altogether healthier place to live and work and one that is kinder to the environment.
